On the record release Soirée chez Serge Poliakoff, the Russian-French artist Serge Poliakoff sings Russian folk songs and talks about his art. As a child and teenager, he already received musical training and lessons in guitar through his family, who lived with many children and in prosperity.

During his escape from the Russian Revolution from Moscow via Kiev, Tbilisi and Constantinople to Paris, parts of which he did together with his uncle Dimitri and his aunt Nastia, all three used their musical skills to earn a living. In Paris, too, he first worked as a musician before devoting himself entirely to painting.
